Questions, answered
What happens to transparency in JPG?
JPG has no transparency: transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG instead.
Can I choose the JPG quality?
Yes. Use the quality slider before converting: higher keeps more detail, lower gives smaller files. The default is 92%.
Why convert WebP to JPG at all?
Compatibility. Some forms, editors and services still reject WebP but accept JPG everywhere. JPG recompresses the image, so keep the WebP original.
Is it free?
Yes, 100% free. No account, daily limit, per-image quota or payment to keep converting. Convert as many images as you need in successive batches. Practical limits still apply: device memory, browser support, up to 5,000 supported files per ZIP and 256 MB per extracted file.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser, so personal photos and company documents are as safe here as on your own computer. Many online converters upload your files to a server and you never know where they end up; here there are no uploads and no account. Your images never leave your device.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes, in an updated mobile browser. Conversion uses your device’s memory, so on a phone convert in smaller batches and keep the tab open while it works.
Is there a file size or batch limit?
There is no fixed quota. The practical limit is your device’s memory: very large images and big batches can be slow or fail. Inside a ZIP, files over 256 MB are skipped.
Will I lose image quality?
PNG preserves the decoded pixels but cannot restore detail already lost in the original. JPG and PDF use JPEG compression. Metadata, HDR and animations are not preserved.
What if conversion fails?
Try an updated browser and a smaller batch. Unsupported codecs, corrupt files or insufficient memory may prevent conversion.
Can I convert a ZIP of WEBP files?
Yes. Drop a ZIP with WEBP images and TotImage opens it in your browser, converts each WEBP file to JPG and gives you a ZIP of results. Nested ZIPs and other file types are skipped, a damaged file does not stop the rest, and nothing is uploaded.
