Remove metadata
Remove metadata
See what metadata your photos hide (camera, GPS location, date, editing software) and remove it before sharing. The tool detects what is there, creates a clean copy in your browser and verifies nothing is left. Free and private: everything happens on your device.

- You can also drop a ZIP of supported images: it opens in your browser and the results come back as a ZIP.
- Metadata is removed and HDR colours may change.
Common questions
What metadata can a photo carry?
More than most people think: camera make and model, date and time, editing software, orientation, color profile and, from phones, the exact GPS coordinates of where it was taken. This tool lists what it finds before you remove it.
Do I lose quality when removing metadata?
PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality you pick with the slider; at the default setting the difference is not visible. Dimensions never change.
How do I know the metadata is really gone?
The clean copy is created by re-encoding the image in your browser, so the new file has no metadata segments at all. The tool then scans the new file and shows you the result, so you can check it before downloading.
Which formats does it clean?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP and HEIC photos (HEIC photos come back as JPG). GIF and SVG are not supported: re-encoding them would drop the animation or the vector format.
Where are my photos processed?
Only in your browser. Detection, cleaning and the final check all happen on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Is it free?
Yes, 100% free. No account, daily limit, per-image quota or payment to keep converting. Convert as many images as you need in successive batches. Practical limits still apply: device memory, browser support, up to 5,000 supported files per ZIP and 256 MB per extracted file.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser, so personal photos and company documents are as safe here as on your own computer. Many online converters upload your files to a server and you never know where they end up; here there are no uploads and no account. Your images never leave your device.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes, in an updated mobile browser. Conversion uses your device’s memory, so on a phone convert in smaller batches and keep the tab open while it works.
Is there a file size or batch limit?
There is no fixed quota. The practical limit is your device’s memory: very large images and big batches can be slow or fail. Inside a ZIP, files over 256 MB are skipped.
Will I lose image quality?
PNG preserves the decoded pixels but cannot restore detail already lost in the original. JPG and PDF use JPEG compression. Metadata, HDR and animations are not preserved.
What if conversion fails?
Try an updated browser and a smaller batch. Unsupported codecs, corrupt files or insufficient memory may prevent conversion.
